With The Zxap Jacket, award winning musician/composer, Ken Mazur, has made his entrance into the world of the sci fi novel . The Zxap Jacket is the first in a series of novels featuring NYPD Detective, Joe Zinski. The second book of the series, Psiclone, is in the process of being completed. Ken’s poetry has been previously published in the Topanga Messenger and he has written technical reviews for Musician Magazine.
Ken Mazur is an accomplished composer/musician with a career spanning four decades. Currently scoring the PBS TV series, Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope, Ken has scored over 250 episodes of TV for shows such as Behind the Music, Tales from the Darkside, Monsters, Biker Build Off and Lost and Found. His music can also be heard in the feature films, The Uninvited, Corina, Corina, Lucky, Nim’s Island, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, Pros and Cons and the Rose Technique.
As a session guitarist, Ken recorded with Robert Palmer, Tina Turner, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Herbie Mann, The Paul Winter Consort, The O Jay’s, Candi Staton, Michael Walden, Eddie Kendrix, Desmond Decker, The Imperials, Eddie Kendrix, Ben E. King and Musique, amongst others.
In 2005 Ken wrote the music and lyrics for a children’s musical, “Precious Piglest and Her Pals,” which won the Artistic Directors Award in LA for Best Music, Lyrics and Book for a children’s musical in 2005. Ken has been in the orchestra as a guitarist on Broadway with Twyla Tharp at the Wintergarden and also in Gotta Go Disco at the Minskoff. His new musical, Borscht Belt Bistro, is in development and has been staged in NYC, LA and Miami. He is the recipient of two Telly Awards.
Ken has a Masters Degree in music from Cal State and a BA in Anthroplogy/Archeology from The University of Colorado.
He is married, the father of three and lives in Topanga, Ca.
